My Teaching Philosophy

I am passionate about helping students reach their full potential through ability focused teaching, which includes:

Focusing on students’ strengths
Utilizing teaching strategies individualized for each student
Making learning fun and meaningful by incorporating the students' likes and interests into instructional practices
Offering scaffolded support (i.e. gradually reducing the level of support given as a student becomes more independent in the skill being taught)
Building students’ self-awareness of their strengths to help build their self-confidence.

I advocate for the acceptance of ability differences and all-ability inclusion practices.

in Special Education.

Trained in Orton-Gillingham Multi-Sensory reading and writing instruction
Over 20 years of working in the Special Education field
Continuing Education & Professional Development approved the PA Dept of Education to maintain active PA teaching certification
All clearances required for PA teachers are up-to-date
Experience with preschool/Early Intervention students through adults with special education services, learning differences and/or neurodiversity
Experience with in-person and virtually teaching
